Navigating Prometric Test Centers: A Comprehensive Guide for Your Certified Food Manager Exam

To get started, begin by creating your free account at FoodManagersCertification.com. Upon account creation, you will receive a confirmation email sent to the address you provided. Next, navigate to the "Courses" section to select and purchase your exam by simply clicking the "Buy Exam" button. Once your purchase is confirmed, you must redeem your Exam Code and Passkey on the “Redeem” page to schedule your exam. You can access this page by clicking on the “Redeem” button from the top menu, or by clicking on “Me”, and then on the “Redeem a Code” link. Your Exam Code and Passkey should have been emailed to you after successful exam purchase. To schedule your exam after entering your Exam Code and Passkey, you will click “Schedule Exam”.

After arriving at the Prometric Test Center, you will go through the student check-in procedures which include the following:

1. The proctor will greet you and have you sign-in.
2. You will be required to present a valid government issued identification such as a driver’s license, passport or military ID, bearing a recognizable current photo and signature.
3. The proctor will verify the name and signature of the student matches those of the student and registration record.
4. The proctor will then request the student place all prohibited items in a secure locker for retrieval after exam completion.  Prohibited items include written notes, published materials, testing aids, cell phones or cameras. Any materials that you are allowed to use during the exam will be provided to you by the proctor at the test site on the day of testing.
5. You will then be escorted to the testing room where you will be seated at a testing terminal and the proctor will explain the rules of the testing room.
6. The proctor will then initiate your examination.
7. Once you have competed your examination, you will be escorted out of the testing room and may leave the testing center. Note: exam scores are not viewable at the Test Center.

After you leave the testing center, you may log into your FMC account to view your exam score along with any areas of deficiencies. Before you are shown your score, you will be prompted to take an optional survey about your experience at the testing center.  You will then have the option of printing your Certified Food Manager certificate if you have successfully passed your exam. You will have 1 opportunity to pass your certification exam.  If you fail your certification exam, you will be required to repurchase the certification examination in order to retest.  You must score a minimum of 70% to pass the certification exam.
